Best Month ever!!! (Part 2)

Earlier, I posted about how INCREDIBLE this month is, for me.

WINNING 2 AWESOME BOOKS?? THAT'S INSANE!

I know I sound overly exaggerated, especially to someone who doesn't even opened a book their entire life. But for me, it's a total BLISS! Happiness. Too much. I'll explode....

So, the second book that I'm talking about (I won it earlier this month) is this:

 ELEANOR CALDER INSPIRED STYLES

It's like a lookbook featuring the fabulous, gorgeous fashion of Eleanor Calder. If you don't know her, she's the popular girlfriend of One Direction's Louis Tomlinson. She's totally adorable and sassy and has this great fashion sense -one great reason that she's also popular among Directioners.

I won this book at Eleanor Calder Fans, a fan page in Facebook. It is run by solid Eleanor Calder girls who adore her and share with her this great love for fashion. Not only are they updating and posting pics of El and the boys (of 1D) but they also help their members during fashion emergencies. They are all really cool especially Admin Emmiesheeran who became sort of my online friend there. She's really cool.

Like the Insurgent book, I still don't have it yet. It was shipped like on the 1st week of April, but since that will come from the UK and I live on the other side of the world, I expect it to come maybe on May. I really hope so. Emmiesheeran and I have been chatting about why it still hasn't arrived yet but I'm hoping I'm right about the "distance is too far that's why". I don't want it lost or something. Haha! Though, Emmie promised to send me another one if it didn't arrive. I don't want to bother her anymore. Especially that she's working hard at work and her music. :)

I am so blessed! Thank God! :)

Best Month ever!!! (Winning Insurgent Collector's Edition)

I still can't get over it. I can't. I just can't.

Day 10 of 365: WHO IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE CHARACTER IN DIVERGENT?

To answer this one, first, I need to list down my favorites. I can't just write here my most hated character because it asks for the least favorite one.

My favorites include:

• Four/ Tobias Eaton
• Uriah
• Christina
• Will
• Caleb

I think, my least favorite character in Divergent is Caleb. 

*By the way, I'm beginning to like Ansel Elgort. In case you still don't know by now, he's the one to play Caleb Prior in the upcoming movie adaptation. Here's a pic from Google:

Day 7 of 365: QUOTE A PASSAGE FROM DIVERGENT

It's supposed to be a random pick. You'll just need to get your book and randomly flip the pages or just open it and pick a passage from the page you opened.

So, I got page 147 and I chose:

Four stops climbing when he's right behind me and looks over my shoulder, his chin next to my head. His breaths flutter against my ear, and I feel shaky again, like I did when I was climbing the ladder.

Yep! It's from the popular, wonderful, Ferris wheel scene. I love that scene. :)

Day 8 of 365: PICTURE OF DIVERGENT IN A STORE/SHELF

This one is supposed to be easy. XD

I would love to take a picture from a bookstore but since it's the Lenten Season, unfortunately, malls are closed. We don't own a bookshelf (we used to have one but...).

Day 9 of 365: YOUTUBE CHALLENGE!!!

Pick one scene from Divergent that you want to see in the movie, and then find the song you want playing in the background (try not to use 'Radioactive' by Imagine Dragons)

Ok. 

Hmm.

I'm totally LSS-ing Radioactive by Imagine Dragons.

It just happens to have the DIVERGENT FEELS.

(The fandom surely gets me. XD)

But since they excluded it, (they foresee it) then I will need to think of another song that also has this Divergent Feels. ;p

I was playing my playlist when this random song started playing. It doesn't have the Divergent Feels but I see myself thinking of Tris and Four while listening to this song.

It's like, completely un-, un-... err.. (Limited vocab, sorry, can't find the word)

It doesn't even fit the genre of the book but I grow to love it and I think, somehow, it speaks of the relationship that's built between Tris and Four.

On Fairytales

Sabi nila, ang mga fairytales daw ay anti-feminist. Bakit? Kasi, isinalalarawan sa mga fairytales ang pagiging “damsel in distress” ng mga babae. Ipinakikita rito na mahina ang mga babae at na hindi nila kayang magkaroon ng “happily ever after” sa kanilang mga sarili.

Siguro nga. Sa totoo lang, ganito rin ang tingin ko nung una. Bakit nga naman kasi kailangan pang maghintay ng mga prinsesa sa kani-kanilang mga prinsipe para iligtas sila mula sa mga sitwasyon na kinalalagyan nila? Bakit hindi na lang sila gumawa ng paraan para isalba ang mga sarili nila?

Bigla ko lang naisip, siguro nga iyong ideya na yun ang madalas at mabilis na nakikita ng mga “feminist”. Hindi pa naman ako hardcore na feminist pero sabi ko nga na miski ako, yun din ang una kong kritiko sa mga fairytales.

Pero, subukan nating tingnan sa ibang anggulo. Paano kung ang gusto naman pala nitong iparating ay hindi: “Babae, magtiis ka lang at maghintay dahil darating rin ang prinsipe mo na siyang magliligtas sayo” kundi: “Babae, kung ang lalaking iyan ang para sayo, gagawin niya ang lahat para sayo.” Ok, hindi literal na lahat.

Paano nga naman kung ang gusto talagang sabihin nito ay: “Lalaki, kung gusto mo talaga si Babae, dapat handa kang maghanap sa buong kaharian, pumuksa ng dragon at lumaban sa mangkukulam.”

(Ridiculous! XD)

Yun nga lang, hindi naman trip ng mga lalaki ang mga fairytales. At malamang na malamang na hindi little boys ang target market nito.

Si Cinderella, hinubad lang ang sapatos nagka-lovelife na. Ikaw, hinubad mo na lahat, wala pa rin.

Kung kilala mo si Kelly Cutrone, alam mo kung gaano siya ka-successful na tao. Isa siya sa mga pinakama-impluwensya at makapangyarihan na nilalang sa mundo ng fashion.

Si Kelly mismo, hindi pabor sa mga fairytales. Nabanggit pa nga nya sa kanyang librong “If you have to cry, go outside” na hangga't maaari ay iniiwasan niyang mapanood ng kanyang anak na babae ang kahit na anong fairytale dahil hindi niya gusto ang impluwensya nito.

Marami na rin akong nabasa at narinig na ganito ang pananaw. Hindi mo sila masisisi dahil may punto nga naman ang mga opinyon nila.

Sa panahon ngayon, hindi na dapat mauso ang mga “damsel in distress/ Maria Clara peg”. Dapat, ang mga babae ay maging “Gabriela Silang” o “Katniss Everdeen” o “Tris Prior” na. Mabuti nga at nabubuksan na ang mga mata ng publiko sa tunay na kahalagahan at kalakasan ng mga kababaihan.

A Little Piece of Me

I just got a job. I should be happy. Well, I am happy, really.

It's just that I'm scared.

I don't know why.

Maybe it's because it's gonna be a new environment for me.

New people... Nah!

I know that's not it.

Truth is, I'm afraid to fail.

I have always been afraid to fail.

Afraid of rejection. Afraid to disappoint people, especially those who I really care about.

Yeah. I have a lot of regrets.

It's the Lenten Season and somehow, on this day, I was able to reflect on many things.

Important things.

Like how fragile I am = how weak I am in reality compared to what I blindly believe in.

My fears. Things that are wrong with me.

Things that I really like. Those that I want to achieve and hold and keep for the rest of my life.

I always thought I want to be a businessman. A tycoon, actually.

But why is it that corporate jobs bore me?

I am not even interested with management or the corporate ladder.

Wrong! I'm interested with management and operations.

I don't even know what industry it is that I want to pursue.

Exploratory. That is what my latest employer told me.

That I still don't know what I want.

And with regards to my interview responses, I have somewhat a difficult case.

I am easily bored. Routine exhaust me.

He even gave me this hint that he expects me not to stay long with the company and yet he still approved of me.

I am very grateful for that, actually.

So, my realization.

I don't know if this is sloth -and I hope not, that is one of the deadly sins- but I “realized” that what I really what is freedom.

Freedom to use my time the way I want.

Freedom to do things however and whichever way I want to.

Freedom to express myself and everything.

I want to produce and create things based on what I want and what I need in the pace that I set whether I set one or not.

And who got those?

Writers, artists, photographers... mostly art people. And children.

Yeah sure they don't have everything.

Some have deadlines to run into. Those who work for a company.

But what about those people who work for themselves?

Just for the love of art?

Those who are not being asked or tasked what they have to do.

Those freelancers who live simply and inspired and just for the sake of art?

Sure, if you ask me years ago if I want to be a millionaire I'd probably exclaimed, “Of course!”

But now, all I think about is how to get myself workshops or courses or certificates in Creative Writing and Fine Arts.

I even want to be an apprentice for a good writer or an artist!

I've always wanted to be a writer.

Then you will ask me, “Then why did you not enroll in Creative Writing?”

I would. I had decided on that. It's one of my regret story.

I've always love Arts.

“Then why did I not enroll in Fine Arts?”

It's the same regret story I have with the writer thing.

The regret story?

I let this one stupid thing get in my way.

I'm not saying that if the stupid thing didn't get in my way or if I did something about it back then, then I'd successfully be in Creative Writing or Fine Arts.

It's not that.

I'm not even sure if I'd pass the exam back then. Plus the Portfolio Review for the Fine Arts.

It's that, I didn't even try to do something about it, period.

Regrets.

I'm over that. Anyway...

So, I want to be a writer and an artist.

And I decided to do something about it.

I'm about to work on a good story that I have running in my mind.

I started drawing again.

I will still take my job, save up if I can while helping with the finances in the household and sending two incoming college freshmen.

Study and practice and practice and study.

And someday, maybe travel the world and meet different people and cultures.

Write about it.

Draw about it.

Paint about it.

Even sculpt something if I learn how to.

That is the best dream I'd ever have!

On Day 4-6 of 365 of Divergent

Day 4 of 365: PREDICT THE TITLE OF BOOK #3

The book will come out this October and they said that it still doesn't have a title. Or maybe, they have it (the title) now, but decided to excite the fans and won't reveal it just yet.

My prediction is that, the book will be called CONVERGENT. It's kind of the popular guess and it can't be helped because a lot of fans feel the need of convergence in the book for it to work out.

Day 5 of 365: FAVORITE QUOTE FROM DIVERGENT

I have lots of favorites from this book! It's hard to choose....

Most of my favorite quotes came from Four.

Day 6 of 365: DRAWING! DRAW A STICK FIGURE OF FOUR

It's a hilarious challenge!

I draw one, he looked more like Phineas from Disney's Phineas and Ferb. XD

I wanted to emphasize the number FOUR, that's why.

Continuing the countdown, here's the 3rd day challenge:

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER IN DIVERGENT?

Before answering that, I just want to write down that I originally plan to post my response/s to the challenges in a collective manner. I mean, like, at least 2 days challenge per post. I don't have a regular internet connection so I have no way to post them everyday. Also, it would save space (I think) and time to just post them altogether (though I don't plan on stuffing too much, at most 5 days challenge would be acceptable).

Anyway, the reason that I decided to post the 3rd day challenge alone in this blog post, aside from to piss off my irritating sister by grabbing the computer from her, is because I like the challenge and I want to put a lot of thought to my answer.

So, my answer:

At first thought, or whenever I am asked this question, my initial response would be Four or Tobias Eaton.

I just really love this character. He is so real and believable. I actually learned from his words and geez! he's like an icon.

But, thinking deeply...

I think, my real favorite character in Divergent is Tris or Beatrice Prior. She's the reason I fell for this book.

It would be a cliche to say that I can relate to her. I'm sure a lot of fans also say this but we have our own reasons for believing so. Besides, I think, everyone can actually   relate easily to her especially in this world where definition of things have been "edited" to a lower level. (I'm not that wise yet to explain this so easily.)

When I read the book, I was (and still am) in the middle of a storm and a hurricane and all those natural disasters. I'm serving my biggest disappointment yet.

I was in this crossroads where I have to choose between safety and the unknown. (The unknown, being the possibility of greater things in life; greater opportunities). It is so hard because the choice that I'm going to make will impact on me long-term. It will decide my future. And for the past year, for choosing safety, I've been doing all wrong.

Just like Tris, who left the safety of her former faction to join another faction in hope to search who she really is and what she really wants, I left safety and chose the unknown.

The problem is, the unknown is unknown.

Comparing myself to my friends and other people my own age, I am nowhere. They have their own places, I have none. I'm not sure where to go. Or maybe I do, I'm just scared or in doubt.

I want to be more like Tris. I want to know where I want to go and hold it and keep it and stick to it til the end.

It's already hard thinking about myself. It's harder when I have to consider others, especially my family.

Yeah, it's getting personal. XD

On Divergent Movie Countdown (Day 1 and 2)

Divergent fans must have already heard of The Faction Four's 365 Days of Divergent. It's a countdown list full of challenges in celebration of the upcoming Divergent movie. (I think, I'm being redundant and don't make perfect sense. Anyway...)

I think it's cool and fun! I am also excited for the movie and I think it's a fun way to look forward for the movie.

And so, without further ado... XD

Day 1 of 365: DECLARE YOUR FACTION.

The faction I want to be in is Dauntless. I want to be brave. I'm not fan of violence and against the pitting of initiates in the initiation but I really believe in their values written in their Faction Manifesto. (Yep, I read those. XD)

The faction I'd be in (according to the Divergent app in Facebook) is Candor. I am not always honest, I'm just not good at lying... so I don't lie most of the time.

Day 2 of 365: iTunes Challenge!

"Open your iTunes > Playlists > 25 Most Played > 4th song on the list. Share that song and what Divergent character you think it best represents."

I don't have iTunes so I decided to get the song from my phone's playlist. Fourth song? The Other Side of Me by Miley Cyrus. XD (I'm actually surprised!)

I think, if you translate it in a totally different, complex way, the characters it could represent are Tris and Tobias.

Ok, just read the title. Maybe it can help.

On Theo James as Tobias "Four" Eaton

As promised! :)

Ok, so for the past few days, the Divergent fandom has been talking about the recent casting updates. But what shocked almost all of us the most is the casting of our most awaited character, Tobias "Four" Eaton.

As we all know by now, Theo James (another British actor ;D) is chosen to play the part.

Different reactions blasted and exploded the virtual world. Of course, there's a lot of hate (palm on face) and disapproval from some fans, saying: "He's too old!" "He's not handsome/hot enough" (seriously, what's wrong with them???) and the likes.

But, I'm no different. XD

At first!

To be honest, my first reaction upon seeing the post was SHOCK. Real shock.

I don't know the guy.

I even commented, "WHAT?????????"

But that is pure shock.

I really like Four and it can't be helped that, somehow, I have my own "imagination" of him (just like the others).

So the next thing I did (actually, series of things):

I started Google-ing the name. Theo James. He's new. Few film career background. Hmm..

Image. Yeah, he kinda look old... Oh, he looked good in there!

It's kind of their fault for using a not-so-attractive photo of him in the poster.

Looked for his FB fan page. Found one! I'm 6,788th liker. XD

Oh! Someone posted a video. It's Four singing!

Can't find the video they posted but here's one that I also like to listen to, like, everyday ever since. XD

He's got a wonderful voice. Plus points!

He's now in Bello Magazine.

Finally, I ended up defending him against haters. I'm not on war, I just try to kind of change their minds. Give him a chance, people!

On the other side, it's great that a lot of people are openly accepting him, especially that he's Veronica Roth approved! :)

I just wish they would release their screen test (Theo and Shaillene) so we know what to expect.

UNLESS, they want us to keep hanging (onto the bar  in the chasm!)

On Tobias "Four" Eaton finally revealed!

He's already trending as I type these letters. Who is he? He's none other than Mr. Theo James!

Yup, he is officially our Four!

I'm totally rejoicing now. I don't know him, he's kind of new but if Ms. Veronica Roth believes in him, so do I.

Can't make this post any longer, I'm so overwhelmed. XD

I'll post again next time once I've cleared my head and my heart that's currently full of emotions. Haha!

On promoting my newly-created Group

I created this group so that anime fans can share each others' favorite quotes from their beloved anime series or mangas.

If I created a page, though FB pages attracted more users, it is more likely that other users will only be aware of the Admin's posts. In contrast to FB groups, it attracts less users but each user became a member whose posts can be seen by other members thus, building a better relationship for the group.

I believe that One Direction is one of the best bands ever!

So, adding One Direction with my current addiction, which is Divergent, I decided to put them into factions where I think they would definitely fit. XD
